Ready, Set, COLLECT!!
Collecting samples of designs you like is a great way to prepare for an upcoming redesign.
Whether it’s a new business card or a new website, it’s really helpful to have a variety of sources of inspiration to work from. Maybe you saw a business card with a type treatment you like, or a postcard that had a novel way of combining typography and photography. If you find a website with navigation or layout you’d like to use, bookmark it.
All of that source material is really helpful to start gathering now, even if you’re not yet thinking about redesigning your communications. As you collect more samples, a theme or stylistic direction will emerge naturally, and this can help give your project direction once you do decide to redesign.
